Spending hours crafting social posts that don’t quite sound like you is no way to run a business.
You know the score: you’re brilliant at explaining your work in conversation, but sit down to write about it? Suddenly, that confident expert disappears. You’re left staring at a cursor, wrestling with sentences that feel all wrong.
This is where Thistl comes in. It captures how you naturally communicate your expertise, then helps you translate that voice into written content. The confident way you explain things in person becomes your written content too – in minutes, not hours.
This guide shows you exactly what happens from your first conversation with our team, through your first month of posting with confidence.
Your Voice Discovery Session is a 60-minute conversation with our team where we capture how you naturally communicate your expertise.
It isn’t an interview or a questionnaire – simply a conversation about your work that feels natural. From there, we train your AI on your specific communication style. Our framework picks up your voice patterns and natural way of explaining things.
Make a note of these things:
And, if it’s easier, you can ask for us to provide the questions in advance!
Find a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted. Turn off all notifications. And – most importantly – relax. You’re not being tested. We won’t be giving you a grade. You’re just talking about work, inside out. You know – the job you do every day.
The expertise is already there – our job is to capture how you naturally share it.
Here’s what actually happens in that hour.
You start by getting comfortable. Take a breath – we want you to feel at ease. During the introductions, most people find they relax into the conversation.
Then, we run through the questions. You’ll talk us through how you explain your work to different people. We’ll listen to the stories you tell, how you structure your thinking, what language feels most authentically “yours”, and look at your instinctive way of helping people understand complex concepts…
…and that’s it!
At the end, we’ll clarify anything that wasn’t clear and make sure we have everything needed to create your voice profile.
Here’s what people say about the Voice Discovery session:
“Speaking to a human felt more conversational and natural than filling in a form.”
“The real person at the other end of the conversation appeared engaged and genuinely interested.”
You don’t need to do anything. We review the recording, run it through our framework and create your voice profile. We expect this to take up to two working days – it depends on how many people we’re onboarding at the time!
You’ll get notified when your Thistl account has been activated. You can now login and start experimenting with your new (but the same) Brand Voice.
What you get:
Our top tip here? Start simple.
Pick something familiar – a topic you discussed in your Voice Discovery session, or advice you find yourself giving clients repeatedly.
Tell Thistl what you’d like your post to be about, for example:
“Write a LinkedIn post about the benefits of [TOPIC]”
Thistl will create a post in your tone of voice. Read it through – does this sound like you? If something feels off, you can ask for specific adjustments. We’d expect you to still tweak wording or polish it to make it truly “yours” – it’s all part of the process.
Important: If you don’t immediately recognise your voice, that’s normal. We know that voice authenticity can sometimes take a few times to get right. Within your user area, we are available via the chatbot if you have any problems or concerns during working hours.
Thistl has a feedback system in-place for your experience using the platform and its outputs. For output-specific feedback, be as descriptive as possible.
Instead of “this doesn’t sound like me,” try: “I’d never say [this] – I’d say [that]” or “I’m more conversational – I wouldn’t say [word or phrase] in this context.”
Providing specific examples of how you’d actually phrase things will help us refine your Brand Voice.
Once you’ve created your first few posts and refined your voice, it’s time to think strategically about how you’ll use this new capability to serve your broader business goals.
By now, content creation should take minutes instead of hours. This will give you the time to focus on what actually matters: consistent communication that builds genuine connections with your ideal clients.
Tip: Schedule your posts in advance so you don’t have to worry about it on the day!
We’ll share strategies, tips, and tricks in the Knowledge Base.
After your first month on Thistl, we expect you to be in a much better position for creating content:
The 2-4 hours per week you used to spend agonising over what to post are now spent actually growing your business.
Your content will sound like you – the expert you are when talking about your work. Your audience starts engaging with your expertise, and you’ll find yourself having more meaningful conversations with your ideal customers online.
But – most importantly – your confidence will grow. No more staring at a blank screen. No more second-guessing every word. No more giving yourself the ick when you post.
Enjoy it.
Even when everything is working well, you might have moments when something feels off. That’s completely normal – your voice is nuanced, and small adjustments can make a big difference. Here are some of the most common concerns, and how to address them:
Reach out to us via the chatbot and ask for a more conversational tone. Your authentic voice may be slightly more casual than initially captured.
Your voice profile probably needs refining, rather than being totally wrong. Work with us to adjust it – either via the chatbot or through the feedback form.
Stick to topics where you feel most confident and expand gradually. Your voice naturally changes depending on how engaged you are with the subject – you’ll sound different writing about something that excites you versus something that doesn’t.
You’re working with us throughout this process, and we’re available for:
During working hours (that’s between 9-5, Monday-Friday – maybe a bit earlier on a Friday).
Don’t forget: You’re the expert on sounding like yourself. Our job is to capture and amplify that expertise consistently.
Your voice is your greatest asset. You already use it every day when talking about your work. You can explain complex concepts to clients, share insights that have come from your experience, and connect with people who need what you offer.
When you consistently show up online sounding like the expert you actually are, your ideal clients start recognising you as the person who thinks about problems the way they do. They see someone who genuinely understands their challenges because you’re communicating from real experience.
That’s what builds business relationships that actually matter – the ones where people seek you out because they want to work with someone who gets it. And that’s exactly what happens when you can translate your natural expertise into consistent content.
